Advent 3 Reading for Personal and Corporate Worship

Image For every week of Advent I have been unleashing one liturgical reading for corporate, family, or private worship.  Here’s the reflection for week 3 which focuses on how God renews the church.

ONE: Renewer of Life, through your word and through your testimony we have been made free

ALL: Through the birth of Your Son, You have brought our world into a right relationship with You

ONE: Even so, we recognize that many do not engage in this opportunity

ALL: We live in a world of the now and the not yet

ONE: We live in a world that is at once filled with doubt and confusion and also filled with life and new possibilities

ALL: Yet, we are reminded that as a called out and sent forth people that we remain Your children

ONE: That You do not abandon us, even when we abandon You

ALL: That You love us even when we go our own way

ONE: That You call us back even when we have wandered far from home

ALL: You are faithful even when we are not because You cannot deny Yourself

ONE: Today we renew our commitment to following You

ALL: We have come to worship today both to be renewed as well as to renew

ONE: We have come both to rest and to receive energy which we will use to give back into our world

ALL: We have come to spur each other on to do acts of love, service, and good deeds

ONE: To forget about what went on before and instead to press on towards the prize

ALL: We thank You for your mercy and compassion and ask that we would learn from this example and so do the same for others.

AMEN.
